Auchan Portugal is the Portuguese operation of the French retail group Auchan, founded in 1961 in Roubaix and owned mainly by the Mulliez family. Auchan acquired the Jumbo and Pão de Açúcar supermarkets and hypermarkets in 1996 and rebranded them as Auchan in September 2019. In 2024 it bought the Minipreço supermarket chain from DIA for EUR 155 million, and those stores are being converted to the Auchan brand. It sells groceries, electronics, toys and household goods through hypermarkets, supermarkets, convenience stores and an online supermarket at auchan.pt.
