BESSEY is a family-owned German manufacturer of clamping and cutting tools, operating as the BESSEY Group with its main production site in Bietigheim-Bissingen. Max Bessey founded the business in 1889 as a bright steel drawing mill in Stuttgart. Clamp production began after patents for a malleable cast iron screw clamp in 1936, and scissors were added with the 1979 acquisition of the Ernst Diener ERDI factory. The company acquired the GROSS STABIL clamp brand in 2004 and has a North American subsidiary, BESSEY Tools North America.
