Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation is a US sporting goods retailer headquartered in El Segundo, California, with about 410 stores in the western United States and an online store. It was founded in September 1955 as United Merchandising Corp., and its name derives from the first five Army surplus stores it opened in California. It sells athletic footwear, apparel and sports and outdoor equipment from brands such as Adidas, Nike, Under Armour and Puma. Following an acquisition completed in October 2025, it is a subsidiary of Worldwide Sports Group Holdings LLC.
