ExxonMobil is an American multinational oil and gas corporation headquartered in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston. It was formed in 1999 by the merger of Exxon and Mobil, the largest direct successor of Standard Oil, and is vertically integrated across the oil and gas industry, with a chemicals division producing plastics, synthetic rubber and other chemicals. Its lubricants business markets the Mobil 1 range of synthetic engine oils and other Mobil-branded lubricants. The company is listed on the NYSE under the symbol XOM.
