Hoshino Gakki Co., Ltd. is a Japanese musical instrument maker and distributor headquartered in Nagoya. It was founded in 1908 by Matsujiro Hoshino as the Hoshino Shoten bookstore, which sold books and sheet music before importing instruments. From 1929 it imported Salvador Ibáñez guitars from Spain, and from 1935 it produced its own guitars under the Ibanez name. The company owns the Ibanez guitar and bass brand and the Tama drum brand, and has a US base in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
