Le Creuset is a French-Belgian maker of cookware, best known for enamelled cast-iron casseroles and Dutch ovens. The Belgian casting specialist Armand De Saegher and enamelling specialist Octave Aubecq opened its foundry in Fresnoy-le-Grand, in the Aisne department of northern France, in 1925, and the first cocotte was produced that year. The range has since widened to other cookware and bakeware, from fondue sets to tagines, along with stoneware and kitchen accessories.
