It was co-founded in 2020 by Carl Pei, previously a co-founder of OnePlus, and launched its first product, the Ear (1) wireless earbuds, in July 2021, followed by its first smartphone, the Phone (1), in 2022. Its devices run Nothing OS, a customised version of Android, and are sold in markets including Europe, India and North America. By May 2026 it had passed US$2 billion in lifetime revenue and employed about 900 people.
