It is headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, and was founded in 1998, after Curt Richardson built the first OtterBox in his garage in 1991. Its products include cases for smartphones, tablets and smartwatches, screen protectors, power banks, charging cables, and Venture coolers and tumblers. In 2013 the company acquired the San Diego-based case maker LifeProof.
