It was founded in 1971 by Henry Burdick and Barry Pressman and launched its Nature Made brand the same year. Otsuka Pharmaceutical has owned the company since 1989. Its brands include Nature Made, MegaFood, Equelle, Uqora and Nurish by Nature Made, and acquisitions include FoodState, the maker of MegaFood, in 2014 and Bonafide Health in 2023.
