Shell plc is a British multinational oil and gas company headquartered in London, with a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange and secondary listings in Amsterdam and New York. It was formed in 1907 through the merger of Royal Dutch Petroleum and the Shell Transport and Trading Company. Shell operates in over 99 countries and has around 44,000 service stations worldwide. Its lubricants business markets Shell Helix engine oils and other Shell-branded lubricants, and the group also owns the Pennzoil and Quaker State brands.
