Zippo Manufacturing Company is a privately owned American company based in Bradford, Pennsylvania, best known for the Zippo windproof refillable lighter. It was founded in 1932 by George G. Blaisdell, produced its first lighter in 1933 and received a patent in 1936. The company also owns the knife maker W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. and acquired the Ronson lighter brand in the US and Canada in 2010. It produced its 600 millionth lighter in 2020 and has also sold watches, clothing and fragrances.
