Endless aisle
Endless aisle gives shoppers access to products beyond the stock physically held in a store. Staff or customers can order from a wider catalogue for delivery or later collection, extending choice without displaying every item.
The extended range can be accessed through a kiosk, staff device or customer website. It is useful when a store cannot hold every size, colour or specialist item, but depends on accurate availability and delivery information. The customer should understand whether the item is coming from another branch, a warehouse or an external supplier.
For example, a shoe shop can order a size that is absent from its shelves while the shopper is still in-store. The product listing needs clear specifications so the correct variant is selected. Endless aisle can support omnichannel retail, but it does not mean the store physically carries the full catalogue.
