Omnichannel retail
Omnichannel retail connects a retailer's sales channels so customers can move between them with a consistent experience. Examples include viewing store stock online, collecting an online order in a shop and returning it through another channel.
Integration may cover stock visibility, pricing, customer records and fulfilment, allowing shoppers to combine channels during one purchase journey. The experience requires reliable operational connections, not simply similar branding. If online stock is inaccurate or store staff cannot access an order, the promised continuity breaks down at the point of service.
For example, a shopper can reserve a product online, collect it through click and collect, and later return it in another branch. Multichannel retail means the business has several sales channels; omnichannel retail emphasises how those channels work together for the customer and the teams serving them.
