Outlet store

An outlet store sells products at reduced prices, often including previous-season, excess or specially produced ranges. Outlet goods are not necessarily defective, and sellers should make the product's condition and range clear.

Outlets may be operated by a brand itself or by another retailer and can offer a mixture of clearance and outlet-specific products. Buyers should distinguish genuinely previous-season stock from goods made for the outlet channel. Product specifications, condition and any differences in support matter more than the size of a displayed discount alone.

For example, an outlet might sell last year's jackets alongside a separate lower-priced range. A markdown describes an actual price reduction, while an outlet describes the retail format. Off-price retail is broader and often involves sourcing discounted stock from multiple brands rather than operating one brand's own outlet.
