Planogram
A planogram is a diagram showing where products should be placed on shelves or displays. Retailers use it to organise categories, allocate space and maintain consistent presentation across stores.
The diagram may specify shelf height, product order, the number of facings and allocated space for each item. Store teams use it when setting up or resetting a category. A planogram should account for actual product dimensions and replenishment needs, otherwise a visually tidy arrangement may be difficult to keep stocked.
For example, a supermarket can allocate three facings to its best-selling cereal and one to a slower line. The layout supports consistent execution but should be reviewed when the assortment changes. Facing counts affect both visibility and how many units can remain on the shelf between replenishment visits.
