Supplier quotation
A supplier quotation is an offer setting out the price and terms for specified goods or services. Buyers should check its expiry date, quantities, delivery charges and exclusions before accepting, particularly where prices depend on availability.
A complete quotation identifies the goods, quantity, unit and total prices, currency, tax treatment and delivery basis. It may also state stock availability, lead time, payment requirements and how long the offer remains valid. These details matter because two quotes with the same headline price can involve very different obligations and costs.
For example, a quote for 200 items at £8 each might exclude £150 freight and require full advance payment. Another supplier may include delivery but quote a later dispatch date. The buyer's purchase order should refer to the accepted quotation and resolve any differences rather than silently changing its terms.
